How Does Front Desk Upselling (FDU) Work on Oaky?

Written by Darrel

How do I upsell using FDU?

To start upselling via Front Desk Upselling, go to your Oaky dashboard > Front Desk Upselling > Launch

👉 Once FDU is launched, you will be redirected to the Arrivals screen where you can look for and find arriving guests' reservations. We have censored the guest data on the below screenshot:

👉 If you select a guest reservation to upsell to, you will be redirected to the upselling screen where you can see the Guest Details, the available Room Upgrades and Services for upselling as well as any existing requested deals. If the guest requests an upsell at the front desk, you can add it using the "Take Deal".

  1. You can see the available deals for upselling under the Room Upgrades and Services section. For Room Upgrades, you can also see a label of how many units are left for upselling.

  2. Using the Language dropdown, you can change the language of the offers if you have enabled other languages and translated the deals in them. This way the guest can review the deals in their native language.
💡 How to add and enable languages: Localisation

  3. On the right-hand side, you can view the Guest Details and their current room type.

  4. In the bottom right would be the space to reflect requested deals via front desk upselling by the guest.

Guest Email Notifications for FDU Deals

Hotels can control whether guests receive email notifications when deals are accepted or rejected through Front Desk Upselling (FDU).

Where to configure this

Go to: Hotel Dashboard → Messaging → General Settings

Scroll to the bottom of the page under the Privacy Statement section.

Note: This setting is only visible for hotels with Front Desk Upselling enabled.

How the toggle works

  1. Toggle ON (default)
Guests will receive notification emails for confirmed offers, including deals sold through Front Desk Upselling.

This maintains the existing default behaviour.

  2. Toggle OFF
Guest notification emails for accepted and rejected deals confirmed via Front Desk Upselling will be suppressed.

This is useful for hotels that prefer their front desk team to communicate directly with guests during check-in.

Note:
This setting only affects deals confirmed through Front Desk Upselling.
Standard pre-arrival upsell email behaviour remains unchanged.
