Can I Customize the Email Sender Address in Oaky?

Oaky automatically sends various emails to hotel guests based on the rules and conditions set in the dashboard. These include:

  • Pre-Arrival Email

  • In-Stay Email

  • Accepted Deal Email

  • Rejected Deal Email

Although these emails are sent from the Oaky domain, they are branded with the hotel's name. The "reply-to" address is determined by the hotel email address configured in the dashboard, allowing guests to respond directly to the hotel.

Question: Can the email address be changed so that emails appear to come directly from the hotel?

While it is technically possible to change the email address, there are a few important things to consider:

  1. Email Deliverability: The success of an email landing in your guests' inboxes (instead of their spam folders) depends heavily on the "reputation" of the sending domain. Oaky's domain has a strong reputation, which helps ensure high deliverability rates. If we switch to your domain, there's a risk that your emails might not have the same deliverability because your domain’s reputation may differ from ours.

  2. Setup Complexity: Changing the sending email address would require a significant setup effort on both our end and yours. This involves configuring your domain to send the emails correctly, and even with proper setup, we can't guarantee the same level of email performance as we can with our current setup.

  3. Past Experience: We've looked into this possibility before, but due to the potential challenges with deliverability and the effort involved, it hasn’t been prioritised.

  4. Reply-to Email: Please note that even though the emails are sent from info@oakyapp.com, any replies from your guests will always be directed to the email address you've added in the Oaky dashboard. This ensures that all guest communication goes straight to your hotel.

In summary: While it is possible to change the email sender address, doing so involves certain risks and requires significant effort. For these reasons, we've found that keeping the emails sent from our domain (info@oakyapp.com) is the most reliable option to ensure your guests receive their pre-arrival emails without any issues. Rest assured, any replies will still go directly to your hotel.
